Intent:

Recognize the exemplary safety-related contributions of one (1) early-stage career EHS professional.


Award Description:

Celebrating the contributions of an emerging leader of the Safety profession, 40 years of age or younger, who demonstrates the capacity to advance the EHS professions through the application of knowledge, demonstrated field experience, and commitment to safety excellence.

The awardee will consistently exhibit high ethical standards and technical abilities, has a track record of providing the highest standards of health and safety protection for employees for whom they are responsible, and consistently exhibits leadership qualities. The awardee must be an actively practicing EHS professional in any sector of public or private industry, no governmental* positions eligible (local, state or federal). They must be committed to expanding the understanding and the continuum of professional development as they grow as an EHS leader, employing innovative solutions and developing best practices to build a safer global community. The awardee (1) will be notified by May 30, 2025, via the email provided in the application.
 

  • BCSP credential holders currently serving on BCSP Emerging Leaders Committee are ineligible for consideration. 
  • Current and recent (3 years) employees of BCSP or BCSP Foundation are ineligible for consideration.
     

Benefits to Awardee:

The awardee will be recognized by BCSP Foundation for current contributions to the profession and capacity to advance as a leader within the Safety profession.

  • Monetary award of $10,000 
  • Recognized as the 2025 Dotson Emerging Professional Awardee in the 2026 BCSP Award of Excellence Ceremony Program (Spring 2026)
  • Invitation to attend and be recognized as the 2025 Dotson Emerging Professional Awardee during a live award presentation at the biennial Research and Innovation Summit (August 4-6, 2025)
  • Invitation to be a mentor in the BCSP Mentorship Program
  • Social media and website feature 


Submission Criteria:

  1. BCSP Credential/Designation must be in good standing–applicants must have the following designation and/or certification: GSP, ASP, CSP
  2. At or under the age of 40 by January 1, 2025
  3. Work experience - CV (upload)
  4. Education - Minimum of bachelor's degree, preference for Master's degree
  5. Service to the profession - Volunteer contributions to advancing the field & outreach related to awareness of the profession and field of EHS
  6. Other relevant awards and recognition - Previous citations, honors, and plaques related to EHS activities
  7. Colleague Support - three (3) signed and dated letters of recommendation - specific to career and pursuits related to the advancement of the EHS profession 


Submissions will be capped at 50 applicants. Applications will automatically close once the maximum number of submissions are received.


 

*Candidates must be an actively practicing EHS professional in any sector of public or private industry, no governmental positions eligible (local, state or federal) i.e. Eligible candidates work for organizations that generate goods and services and contribute to tax revenue, rather than those that are funded by tax dollars.
